Jesus Christ, how this guy has a job managing in the big leagues is beyond me.
I often like to take a second to vent here on my website when something happens that warrants it.
I can take losing a game but sometimes it's really hard to understand the decisions by men in a position of power that cost you to lose the game.
Which brings us to Angels/Braves last night.
Your starting pitcher has shutout the Braves for 5 2/3 innings, battled his ass off all night but has just allowed back to back singles and is at 100 pitches.
Do you A.) let him face one last batter, a guy he has struck out twice and give him a chance to work his way out of it or B.) go to your bullpen.
Without question it's A. He has earned it. It's his game to win or lose at that point. You give him a chance.
Nope, interim manager Ray Montgomery chose B and brought in Ryan Zeferjahn.
How did that work out Ray? Well, Zeferjahn didn't retire a single hitter allowing the next 6 batters to reach base.
First pitch 3-run homer. Then a single. Walk. Walk. Then a grand slam homer and another single.
And that ladies and gentlemen is how my 50 dimer on the Angels goes down last night.
Yusei Kikuchi pitched his ass off. We're talking 6 hits, 2 earned, 7 strikeouts. You let him face Murphy. Simple as that.
He gives up the 3-run homer, I can live with that. Simple as that but to deny him the chance and bring in some clown who loses it, just unacceptable.
But hack managers make hack decisions just like football coaches make hack decisions.
